Pine Tree at Whidbey Institute

The Whidbey Island Sketchers and I spent the afternoon at the Whidbey Institute sketching. The grounds are beautiful with some massive, old trees with interesting limbs. Observing and studying this old tree was awe inspiring and humbling. It's rare to see such old growth. I feel honored. Here's my painting...

  4. Thank you Lucia, Katherine and Sue, so much for your nice remarks. Painting this tree was so gratifying on many levels. Being in the presence of it's grandeur, the interesting interweaving and reaching of the branches, the paint flowing on the paper and the beautiful day all converged to make painting it an exceptional experience.
