I decided when I started this little sketch I would overwork it by putting layers and layers of paint down to see how much it would tolerate before turning to mud. I'd say it's on a mud puddle side.
I wouldn't say mud puddle, I would say it has an intensity to it, like it just rained that day, and it's getting close to evening time.... I wouldn't have thought muddy if you hadn't said something. I love the composition and the story it tells.
Thanks, Katherine! There are aspects of it that I really like and that have inspired some new ideas for paintings. And I'm delighted you found a story in it. Amazing how many subjects are within arms reach of us.
